such stuff as dreams are made on

austin, texas | aesthetics consume me; everything is beautiful. | i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart) | the breaking of a wave cannot explain the whole sea. | look at this tangle of thorns. | i don’t want to live; i want to love first, and live incidentally. | obsess mercilessly. | courage. sincerity. & flaming self respect.

It’s a small, not a tall.

Brooklyn Fare’s Packaging

I am not a fan of this.

I don’t want to defend the Starbucks naming system, but it does have a rationale, although they are really not owning it. The smallest size is a short, so a tall is taller than a short. That means of the three sizes, grande is the “large.” Ventis are 20oz and thus are called “20.” In addition to making (some) sense, it’s something about Starbucks that has spread through everyday life and gets people talking.

Along those lines, I think it’s a terrible idea for Brooklyn Fare to mention Starbucks in their branding. It’s like how Burger King is all the time mentioning McDonald’s. I don’t want to go all Lakoff and frame-y, but I think you want to set yourself apart by being yourself, not by not-being someone else.

This is pretty much along the lines of the Horns Down bullshit that I hate so much.

Dear Aggies and Sooners and worldwide ignoramuses and haters of the University of Texas at Austin,

please note this design fail because it also pertains to you turning our Longhorn upside down or cutting off the horns. Do you realize you are identifying yourself by hating us? It’s a little low and pathetic, if you ask me. Do something else because you are all getting on my nerves. Football season is right around the corner and every time I see an Aggie or Sooner (or Gator or whatever) on TV, people ALWAYS sport the Horns Down bullshit even when they are not playing us. I am going to have a freaking aneurysm soon if this crap does not stop. Ahhhhhhh! I’m already getting flustered so stop it, or I will shoot your damn hand off your wrist with a fking ninja star.

Warmest regards,

Longhorn Lina
